Robson will start in November and joins from Martin Currie Investment Management where he was Global Portfolio manager.
Prior to joining Martin Currie in 2010 he was head of Global Equities at Pioneer Asset Management.
The Luxembourg-domiciled Global Focus Fund was formerly named the Threadneedle World Equities Fund and has been managed by head of global equities Jeremy Podger since 1 June this year.
Podger took over from Andrew Holliman, who ran the fund from November 2003 until his departure to join Polar Capital in May.
The fund has outperformed its benchmark over one, three and five years, according to Threadneedle.
Despite its merry-go-round year with managers, the fund has also beaten its benchmark over three months, six months and in the year-to-date.
Robson’s addition takes Threadneedle’s Global Equities team up to eight members, with Podger at the helm.
Mark Burgess, CIO at Threadneedle, said: "We have a very strong Global Equities Team, which takes a borderless, active approach to finding the best opportunities available in equity markets around the world.
"We have a strong team-based approach, with a culture of open discussion, debate and sharing of ideas, and I’m confident that Neil will provide valuable input to this process."
