James has been with Aviva Investors since 2010, and most recently worked as pan European financials analyst. He worked with Buxton and Errol Francis during his time as UK banks analyst at Baring Asset Management.
James will join the firm as senior analyst, reporting to Buxton, whose departure from Schroders in March sent shockwaves across the industry, calling the future management of his funds into question.
Julian Ide, CEO of Old Mutual Global Investors comments: “We are delighted that Robert is joining us and completes the build out of our UK large cap equity capabilities. Alongside our leading UK Small and Mid-Cap, UK All Companies and UK Equity Income Teams, we have a market leading suite of long-only and long-short UK equity investment strategies.”
Of course Buxton isn’t the first manager to leave Schroders for a rival firm; a number of high profile individuals and teams have jumped ship and gone on to have successful careers elsewhere in the past few years. Find out who they are here.
