Robeco has hired Western Asset Management’s Matthew Jackson as a senior investment-grade credit portfolio manager.

Jackson, who began his career at Western Asset Management in 2003, previously managed global, European and UK investment-grade mandates during his previous role. He will be based in Robeco’s London office.

Jackson will be joined by two senior analysts, Yadeesh Moorthy and Atif Ali. Moorthy previously worked as a director and credit analyst at UBP, and prior to this, spent eight years at M&G – latterly as a credit analyst. Ali joins from Ardent Financial, where he spent three and-a-half years as a senior analyst focused on financials and high yield. He previously spent five and-a-half years at Citadel as a credit analyst focusing on the same sectors.

According to Robeco, the expansion of its credit team comes following “strong demand” for its credit strategies over the last year, due to strong performance track records and the changing macroeconomic backdrop.

Joop Kohler, head of credits at Robeco, said: “We continue to deepen the bench on both portfolio management and analyst teams. Growing requests for credits and increasing demand for customised solutions, led us to scale up our portfolio management capacity.

“In the coming months we will add more junior analysts that join us from our international trainee programme. We believe that the enhancements prepare us for future growth and show our commitment to developing and retaining top investment talent within our global credit team.”

He added: “We’re excited that Matthew, Yadeesh and Atif have strengthened our team. These new arrivals to the global credit team will be based in London, solidifying our London office as talent and investment hub”.
