Hall will report to Christophe Caspar, chief investment officer of multi asset strategies. Hall joined from Schroders where he was head of manager selection, researching and selecting internal and external investment funds for use in Schroders’ multi-asset products. He had previously worked at Russell Investments from 1988-2008 as a director in European equity portfolio management.
The three main retail funds managed by Hall with co-manager Iain Cunningham are all fourth quartile over three years – the Schroder MM Cautious Managed, Schroder MM High Alpha and Schroder MM Strategic Balanced. After Schroders’ takeover of Cazenove, the group can now call upon the resources of the Cazenove multi-manager team led by Marcus Brookes, which manages, among others the Diversity and Diversity Income funds, which have been strong performers.
Pascal Duval CEO EMEA for Russell Investments, said: “We’re delighted that Rob has chosen to join our multi asset team. The team, who looks after the Russell Multi Asset Growth Strategy, our flagship fund … Rob’s skill set and experience will add to the multi asset team; the cornerstone of all of Russell’s skills in manager research, portfolio management, and alternative beta management.”
