RLAM reveals global equity funds for ex-Waverton trio

Royal London Asset Management (RLAM) has launched two global equity funds to be run by the team it poached from Waverton Investment Management earlier this year.

Both funds will be managed by the team comprising head of global equities, Peter Rutter, along with Will Kenney and James Clarke, who joined RLAM in January.

They are targeting wholesale and institutional investors.

The Royal London Global Equity Select Fund will invest in a concentrated portfolio of 25-40 global stocks from developed and emerging markets. It will aim to outperform the MSCI World Net Total Return index by 2.5% a year over rolling three-year periods.

Meanwhile, the Royal London Global Equity Diversified Fund will invest in a more diversified global equity portfolio, with country and sector exposures broadly in line with its benchmark, the MSCI World Net Total Return index. The fund will aim to outperform this by 0.5% a year over rolling three-year periods.

The ongoing charges figure is expected to be 0.7% for the Select Fund and 0.4% for the Diversified Fund.

Both will be managed using RLAM’s ‘corporate lifecycle approach’ which screens more than 3,000 companies based on their economic return before using this data to assess their position in the corporate lifecycle.

Stocks which pass this screen are then subject to further analysis by the team, with the aim of finding companies which create shareholder wealth and are fundamentally undervalued.

Rutter said: “Global equities give UK investors the ability to access a broader range of stocks than are available in the UK market, and in some cases opportunities that are simply not available domestically. These funds will offer clients the benefits of our team’s investment process, focused on identifying and investing in stocks globally, with particular shareholder wealth creation and valuation characteristics.”

Piers Hillier, chief investment officer at RLAM, said the funds were launched following client demand.

“The Select and Diversified portfolios offer investors access to exciting opportunities and the benefits of diversification which global equities provide,” he added.
