Marwood joins from AXA Investment Management where he ran various UK equities and multi asset funds during a 20 year run with the company.

He will report directly to RLAM’s chief investment officer Piers Hillier and work closely with the equities team including UK Equity Income fund manager Martin Cholwill, who he has worked with previously.

RLAM indicated it may roll out new funds under Marwood, saying it “will look closely at potential fund opportunities playing to Richard’s strengths.”

The equities team at RLAM currently has £27.3bn of assets under management, £17.5bn of which is in UK equities.

“Richard is a key hire for Royal London Asset Management’s equity team,” said Hillier. “Richard’s strong history of managing equities across a range of market conditions will be valuable for RLAM and its clients as we continue to build out our offering in this area.”

Marwood added: “I am excited to be starting a new challenge. RLAM is a firm very much on the front foot and I look forward to working with the team.”
