River and Mercantile has once again nabbed a former Merian Global Investors hire for a distribution role as Nick Pearse becomes the third senior salesman to join the boutique manager in just over six months.
Pearse will be responsible for developing business and client service in the Midlands, South West and Channel Islands.
He had been at Merian for just shy of a decade, working as a regional sales manager and last July becoming director of sales for the Midlands and Channel Islands once Merian was acquired by Jupiter.
Pearse is the third Merian alum to join River and Mercantile in the last six months. Merian’s former distribution boss Simon Smith left last July to become head of River and Mercantile’s UK wholesale team, while Martin Canavan joined as a sales director the following month.
“This was an easy decision,” Pearse said of his recent move. “River and Mercantile is a very strong brand in the wholesale market with an excellent product range and renowned investment teams. I know I can make a strong contribution to the growth of the business and I’m looking forward to working again with Simon.”
Smith, who worked with Pearse for nine years at Merian, said he regards him as “one of the best distribution professionals in the industry”.
“I am thrilled that he is joining the team at River and Mercantile to help implement our aggressive growth strategy,” he added.
Prior to Merian Pearse spent seven years as a business development manager at MAM Funds, which rebranded to Miton.
