The last time the UK equity income sector was the best selling one was in September 2013, the IMA said.
In second place, in the sector rankings was property, with £446m coming in, the highest since December 2009, according to the IMA. Third on the list was mixed investment 20-60% shares, with £281m, while the Global sector came in fourth with sales of £257 million – the highest since August 2011.
In fifth place was Mixed Investment 40-85% Shares with net retail sales of £192 million.
In total, fund sales for the month were just less that £3bn and, according to Daniel Godfrey, IMA Chief Executive, £1.3bn of that came from investors making the most of their tax-free ISA allowances by “rushing to meet the end of tax year deadline or topping up at the start of the new one”.
