Rambourg transfers Henderson holding to own charity

Guillaume Rambourg plans to transfer his entire Henderson shareholding into his own charity.

The Rambourg Foundation was formally registered as a charity in February this year to arrange for any money donated to be given to other charities more efficiently. The donation from Rambourg itself, subject to approval from HMRC over its gift aid status, will be a tax-free transfer of his shares into the charity.

Rambourg’s shares are those he owned while at Gartmore that were subsequently moved to Henderson when its acquisition was completed earlier this year. At the time, Rambourg’s stake was £16.4m, a figure that has subsequently fallen to nearer £14m given the fall in Henderson’s share price.

His charity will add to Rambourg’s share transfer through fund-raising activities that will include sporting events, dinners and third-party donations.

According to the Rambourg Foundation’s website, it was set up “to structure and optimise our family’s philanthropic activities”. The donations will be made to organisations focussing on the protection/enhancement of human rights, the advancement of education, the relief of financial hardship and the preservation of health, locally and globally.
