Flather will be part of executive director Tim Healy’s team of nearly 70 investment managers at Quilter Cheviot, reporting to managing director Andy McGlone.

Flather joins from HSBC Global Asset Management’ London office, where he managed a £110m client bank. Having been one of the division’s top new business acquirers over the last two years, Flather will work with both intermediaries and direct private client introductions to develop new business opportunities at Quilter Cheviot. “His business development expertise will support us as we continue to grow the London office further in 2016,” said McGlone.

“I was attracted to Quilter Cheviot due to the strength of the investment process that allows investment managers the flexibility to build portfolios that meet the needs of their clients, in a structured and disciplined way,” said Flather.

He added: “The ability to include direct equities and to research funds on an open architecture basis is something that very much appeals to me, along with the opportunity my role will bring in terms of direct client contact and relationship building.”

Prior to HSBC, Flather was part of Investec Wealth & Investment’s Leeds office.
