Fund flows show where the current money is going; the performance of the indices shows where the market thinks that money should be going; fund performance shows where the money should actually have gone.
Right now, we know the end-of-quarter performance numbers for the indices and the funds as generally these are reported daily; the missing link is the fund-flows data as the fund groups’ finance teams dot the ‘i’s and cross the ‘t’s before publishing their fund sizes so this data will probably not be available for another few weeks.
What we can see right now is where the market thinks that money should be going and where the money should actually have gone.
So…tactically, which funds do you wish you had allocated resources to? And which ones are you glad you are Russian away from (no clues from me though…)?
And looking more strategically, which sectors would have done your money proud, and are there any surprises in the weakest fund sectors?
