Nick Ford (pictured), manager of the £1.6bn Premier Miton US Opportunities fund, has announced his decision to retire at the end of September.

He has co-managed the fund alongside Hugh Grieves since launch in 2013. The pair also run the £35m Premier Miton US Smaller Companies strategy.

Ford joined the firm in 2012 from Scottish Widows Investment Partnership and has worked in the investment management industry for nearly 40 years.

Meanwhile, the firm has announced the hire of Alex Knox from Federated Hermes, who will take over Ford’s responsibilities once he joins next month.

Knox has spent 15 years at Federated Hermes and was deputy manager on the firm’s US Smid Equity strategy.

Mike O’Shea, CEO of Premier Miton, said: “We wish Nick all the very best for his retirement and for the future and would like to thank him for his hard work and valuable contribution to Premier Miton and investors in our US funds.

“While we will be sorry to see Nick leave, we are delighted to welcome Alex to the US equity team, who will be working closely alongside Hugh Grieves and the broader equity team here at Premier Miton.”
