The award itself was presented by Ken Rayner, an investment director at this year’s Fund Awards’ sponsor, Rayner Spencer Mills Research.

Wrestling the title from last year’s winner M&G, Schroders also picked up a Gold Award for its Global Property Securities and another Gold Award for its Tokyo Fund.

In full, the Portfolio Adviser Fund Awards 2014 winners are:

The Readers’ Choice Award was decided by an online poll among Portfolio Adviser’s readers who were asked to nominate the fund house they feel shows consistency and excellence across the board, in terms of the funds it runs and the service it offers both them and their clients.

How we did it

The Fund Awards, for the seventh consecutive year, were held in association with Morningstar.

The product category awards were made by an independent judging panel using their own qualitative research skills on a long-list of funds provided by Morningstar’s quantitative data analysis.

The judging panel was responsible for choosing the platinum and gold award winners across the remaining 16 categories.

The panel represents Portfolio Adviser’s magazine readers, online subscribers and event delegates: investment-specialist IFAs, discretionary fund managers, independent fund researchers, private bank client advisers, multi-managers and private client portfolio managers.

Forward looking

These awards are given for what they see as the funds’ future potential rather than past performance as the panel were asked individually to give their nominations in response to the question: “In each category, where would you invest your and your clients’ money today, looking ahead 12-24 months?”.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank them once again for the time and effort they put into giving their nominations, to Morningstar for providing us with the fund data, and to Rayner Spencer Mills Research for sponsoring this year’s Fund Awards.

Congratulations to the winners, and all the best for the rest of 2014 and beyond.

Kind regards

true
