Syzdykov, who has been on the firm’s emerging markets debt team since 2000, will be responsible for the performance of all emerging markets and Euro high yield investment strategies managed by a team of six portfolio managers.

He will continue to act to as lead manager of the Emerging Markets Bond strategy, the performance of which is shown in the graph below.

The move comes as the firm continues to build on its London-based emerging markets and high yield expertise, and it looks to take advantage of the growing opportunities in the local currency emerging market debt and credit space.

To that end Pioneer has made five additional hires. Desmond English, who has experience in the loans market, joins the firm as a portfolio manager from Commerzbank and Esther Law will be joining as co-manager of the EM Debt Local Currency strategy, focusing on local currency debt and relative value strategies. She joins the firm from Societe Generale.

A further three research analysts will also join the team, with the aim of developing a greater degree of specialisation among the team.
