From CIOs to analysts, Portfolio Adviser rounds up the biggest industry moves.

Dan Kemp, Morningstar

Kemp succeeds Daniel Needham as chief investment officer of Morningstar’s EMEA investment management business.

The appointment follows Needham’s promotion to president and CIO of the firm’s UK arm, with Robin Johnson taking on Kemp’s former role as head of portfolio management.

Michael Ulrich, JO Hambros Capital Management

JOHCM bolstered the team behind its UK Opportunities Fund, with Ulrich due to take up a fund manager berth in August.

He will join existing managers John Wood, Rachel Reutter and Todd King, with the announcement coming just over a month after Ulrich resigned from F&C Asset Management.

Omar Saeed, LGIM

Nine months on from Richard Hodges’ departure, LGIM finally announced his successor at the helm of the L&G Dynamic Bond Trust.

Saeed initially joined the firm in February, with LGIM saying that his appointment was made with a view to taking over the trust following a period of acclimatisation.

Van Luu, Russell Investments

Luu arrives at the firm as head of fixed income and currency strategy, reporting to global head of investment strategy Dan Pease.

The former Norges Bank Investment Management will contribute to Russell Investments’ portfolio positioning, hedging solutions process and currency management.

Stuart Layzell, Tilney Bestinvest

Subject to regulatory approval, Layzell will take up Tilney’s chief financial officer berth in the next step of his 23-year financial career.

Arriving from a CFO role at Isotrak, Tilney cited Layzell’s experience in mergers and acquisition as key to his appointment.

Katia Coudray, Florent Guy-Ducrot and Xavier Guillon, SYZ Asset Management

SYZ implemented a series of changes to its senior management roster, the most prominent of which was the promotion of Coudray to CEO and head of the Swiss bank’s OYSTER fund group.

Meanwhile, Guy-Ducrot joins from Axa Life Invest as SYZ’s head of business development, replacing Xavier Guillon.

Owen Scarrott, Schroders

Schroders reinforced its global and international equities team with the poaching of Scarrott from Morgan Stanley.

Due to begin his materials and energy global sector specialist role in July, former equity analyst Scarrott also spent time at Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs.
