The subject is vast, the intricacies are huge, and it is difficult to take one part of it and discuss this meaningfully in isolation from everything else.

Right now, Asia is either the key driver of global economic growth or the key beneficiary of the rest of the world’s economic comeback.

Which of these is the case is still to be seen, though the ultimate answer is that Asia does not operate in its own investment or economic bubble and nor does any other region in the rest of the world.

We invited portfolio managers with exposure to the region to discuss some of the many issues of investing in Asia with leading fund managers.

They covered topics such as local currency versus external debt, some of the challenges facing supposed strengths – infrastructure, for example – a forward-looking view on the region as a whole, with a country-specific view on India.

The photos attached give a flavour for what was a very interesting series of presentations and if you want to be involved in future discussions, please do get in touch.
