Crutchley, who officially started in his new role on 4 September, will be in charge of the firm’s standalone investor and shareholder relationship programme.
He will report to chief financial officer Tim Tookey.
His appointment comes shortly before parent company Old Mutual preps to list its UK wealth management business on the London and Johannesburg Stock Exchanges as part of its “managed separation process”.
OMW explained that “having an effective investor relations function in place to support our engagement with current and future shareholders and industry analysts is a critical requirement” ahead of its flotation.
Crutchley has over 16 years of experience within global investment banks, spanning UBS and Merrill Lynch, and has worked at Barclays across banking, treasury and general management.
Most recently, he was head of investor relations for Atlas Mara, an investment firm that provides retail and commercial propositions across sub-Saharan Africa.
“It is terrific that we have been able to attract somebody of J-P’s experience and standing to our business,” said Tookey.
“J-P’s industry expertise and Kerry’s knowledge of our business will be a strong combination as we develop our standalone relationships with analysts and investors.”
Assisting Crutchley is Kerry Adams-Strump, who has been promoted to investor relations director.
An Old Mutual veteran of nine years, she has held roles in Old Mutual, Old Mutual Emerging Markets in Cape Town and spent the last three years working for Paul Feeney, CEO of OMW.
“J-P and Kerry make a fantastic team,” Tookey continued.
“J-P’s industry expertise and Kerry’s knowledge of our business will be a strong combination as we develop our standalone relationships with analysts and investors.”
