Shepherd will join OMGI on 8 January 2013 from UBS Global Asset Management, where he was executive director and head of UK retail discretionary sales. He has also worked at Schroders, Prudential Intermediary Division, National Provident and Norwich Union.

Meanwhile, Brian Mclaughlin, who was most recently regional account manager at Prudential UK Intermediaries, has been appointed advisory sales manager for the north. Graeme Brown has been hired as  advisory sales manager for the south and joins from Momentum Global Investment Management, where he was business development manager.

MAM Funds’ Midlands sales manager Nick Pearse will join OMGI as discretionary sales manager for the south. The investment management firm already has a discretionary sales manager covering the north.

OMGI head of UK wholesale Simon Smith said: “The high-calibre appointments that we are announcing today significantly enhance our sales and distribution capability and should be seen as a clear statement of our intent to reinforce and grow our market-leading asset management business.”
