Sellers has held a number of senior positions during his career that has spanned 16 years, including head of group finance at Close Brothers Group.
Ocean Dial was restructured as an investment boutique in September of last year with the aim of offering investors different ways to participate in "the success of the Indian economy".
The firm already runs the India Capital Growth Fund, which is mid-cap investment trust listed on AIM. It also runs a large-cap domestically-focused India fund with a one-year track record, which is currently being converted into an Oeic for launch to the market.
The backing company of Ocean Dial, Caledonia, is chaired by Jamie Cayzer-Colvin, who said of the new appointment: "I have known Robin for many years and we are extremely pleased to welcome him as chief executive of Ocean Dial."
Sellers added: "In my new role at Ocean Dial I will be focusing on building a profitable specialist fund management business whose primary focus is on India. The investment case for India is compelling, particularly with the Indian government’s recent announcement that it intends to reduce barriers to entry for foreign participation in its domestic markets."
