Nuveen has appointed Saira Malik to take over now-CEO William Huffman’s role as head of equities and fixed income platform, following Huffman’s appointment in June.
In addition to her new position, Malik will remain as chief investment officer and chair of Nuveen’s Global Investment Committee. She has been with Nuveen since 2003, with previous roles including head of global equities portfolio management and head of global equities research.

As of 31 March, Nuveen held $1.1trn assets under management, including at $337bn equity business and $428bn fixed income business, as well as private markets, real estate, multi asset and real assets.
“As a proven leader who has dedicated two decades of her career to the evolution and growth of Nuveen’s platform, Saira is ideally suited to take on leadership of the Equities and Fixed Income business,” Huffman said.
“In this expanded role, Saira will work closely with the talented leaders and teams who oversee more than $1T in AUM across equities, global fixed income, munis, private placements, multi-asset strategies and C-PACE lending.”
