Nikko Asset Management has appointed Yu-Ming Wang to the newly created role of international chief investment officer and promoted Hiroki Tsujimura to CIO of Japan.

In his new role, Wang will oversee Nikko AM’s global investment teams outside of Japan and will be responsible for growing Nikko AM’s international investment capabilities and developing new strategies in areas such as Asian alternative fixed income and bank loans.

Wang joins from Manulife Asset Management where he was head of fixed income Asia.

Tsujimura meanwhile, who is currently head of active investments at Nikko AM, will take up the role of CIO Japan, also a new position. Tsujimura joined Nikko in December 2004 as global head of alternative investments and chief investment officer of Nikko AM Americas.

Both Wang and Tsujimura take up their new positions on 7 January 2013.
