Newton IM shakes up equity income leadership team

Deputy CIO James Lydotes takes over from Ilga Haubelt who leaves after less than three years

Newton Investment Management’s deputy CIO of equities, James Lydotes, has been named head of the equity income team, with immediate effect.

He replaces Ilga Haubelt who is leaving the firm to pursue a non-portfolio management opportunity. Haubelt joined Newton in November 2019 after six years with Deka Investments, where she was latterly head of global equities, senior portfolio manager.

Subject to due process, Lydotes (pictured) will also become head of the portfolio management team of the BNY Mellon Global Equity Income Fund7 and Newton’s Global Equity Income strategy, working closely with current portfolio managers Jon Bell and Robert Hay

He has been the lead portfolio manager of the global infrastructure dividend focus equity strategy since 2011, and he is lead manager of Newton’s North America managed international core equity strategy.

Lydotes has 22 years’ experience across multiple roles at BNY Mellon group companies Mellon Investments Corporation and The Boston Company Asset Management. Lydotes has been the lead portfolio manager of the Global Infrastructure Dividend Focus Equity strategy since inception in 2011, and is also lead manager of the Newton Investment Management North America (NIMNA)-managed International Core Equity strategy.
