Huijnen was an investment counsellor at HSBC Private Bank from March 2010 and prior to HSBC she worked at Clariden Leu as part of their portfolio management unit from 1998.
She will report to Caroline Mair, head of international private clients at Newton and will have investment management and client service responsibilities.
Huijnen will also participate in business development activities as Newton continues to build on its private client proposition.
Mair said: "Over the past two years we have been steadily strengthening our international private client business with a number of senior appointments in order to reinforce our existing client service and meet an increase in new clients. With over 12 years of experience of working in the private client sector, Clare is another excellent addition to our team."
