The new hire is in line with the firm's plan to roll out a European high yield fund for non-US investors as part of its growing UCITS fund platform.

Wilmont will be based in London having recently left his position as head of European high yield at Alcentra.  Wilmont has also held roles at AXA Investment Managers, Pareto Partners, New Flag Asset Management and Gulf International Bank.

In his new role Wilmont is reporting to Ann Benjamin, Neuberger Berman’s CIO for non-investment grade strategies. “High yield has matured into a global asset class and we’re delighted to expand our investment capabilities and the range of strategies Neuberger Berman offers to clients with an investor of Andrew’s calibre,” Benjamin said.

“Andrew’s appointment reflects our commitment to building a complete suite of global non-investment grade solutions for investors,” Dik van Lomwel, head of EMEA and Latin America added.

The firm has around $18bn in assets under management.
