The newly created role will see Pepper work on the non-investment side of the asset manager’s alternatives business, allowing the portfolio managers to dedicate more of their time to running investments.
Pepper joins from TT International, where he was investment director for hedge funds. He was also head of alternatives at New Star Asset Management and became head of hedge funds at Henderson Global Investors following its acquisition of New Star.
Julian Ide, chief executive of Old Mutual Global Investors, said: “Donald will bring enhanced strategic leadership to the non-investment side of Old Mutual Global Investor’s Alternatives business.
“We have completely reinvigorated our distribution teams in 2012 and Donald will make a significant contribution to the growth of our business.”
Paul Simpson, head of alternatives at the company, will continue to run the investment side of the alternatives business.
