The company plans to add to its product range and growth its third-party distribution as part of the strategy, which is focused around “actively expanding” its direct asset management capabilities.

Old Mutual is aiming to “substantially grow” third-party distribution, primarily through independent financial advisers, wealth managers and banks as well as through development of platform relationships in the UK and international markets.

The company added that the distribution capability of its newly created wealth management solutions provider Old Mutual Wealth is an important element of the strategy.

Furthermore, the asset manager intends to “invest in areas and asset classes where new offerings can be built and existing expertise broadened”. Supporting this, the company has channelled investment into its product development capability.

Julian Ide, CEO of Old Mutual Global Investors, said: “Our vision is to be a recognised leader in asset management, trusted by our clients as expert investment managers and providers of smart investment solutions.

“The UK is at the core of our strategy – specifically capturing more assets from the wholesale market and building investment solutions for the Old Mutual Wealth business.”

The merged asset manager was formed earlier in the year with the intention of “simplifying the business and maximising the mutually complementary skills, expertise and products of the two companies”.
