The group announced on Monday it has appointed Mark Roomans CEO of its UK business, replacing Geoff Balzano. The move allows Balzano to focus all of his attention on his other role as head of adviser solutions for Morningstar in EMEA, a role he took over in early 2014.
Roomans has been with the group for 14 years, most recently as co-CEO of Morningstar Australia while Balzano joined in 2001 and took over the UK CEO role in 2007.
Joe Mansueto, Morningstar Inc chairman and CEO said. “During his seven-year tenure as UK CEO, Geoff has overseen the growth of our business, including the acquisition of several UK companies. His extensive experience leading our solutions for advisers and firms involved in delivering financial advice and guidance to investors will further our expansion of these capabilities across the EMEA region.”
According to the group, the splitting out the function is an indication of the strategic importance it is placing on this segment of the EMEA market.
The group also announced that Daniel Needham has been appointed President as well as chief investment officer of the Morningstar Investment Management group. Needham was appointed CIO in May 2013, but takes on the additional role of president from 2 February.
