Morningstar has appointed Dan Kemp as global chief investment officer of its investment management group, replacing Daniel Needham.
Needham is moving from the position to focus on his role as president of Morningstar’s investment management group, the research and investment management firm said.
Kemp (pictured) joined Morningstar in 2014 as co-head of investment consulting and portfolio management Emea. In 2015 he was promoted CIO Emea.
Prior to joining the company, Kemp was a founding partner at Albemarle Street Partners, responsible for client risk profiling, fund research, portfolio construction and asset allocation.
Needham said: “Throughout [Kemp’s] tenure, he has developed a robust team, producing high-quality research and investment strategies that seek long-term outperformance for the end investor. Additionally, he has been key in the development and implementation of the investment management group’s investment principles, detailed portfolio guidelines, peer-review process and decision-making framework to help investors meet their financial goals.
“Under his leadership as global CIO we will continue to thrive, providing our clients with robust asset allocation, investment selection and portfolio construction services.”
Kemp will continue with his current role as CIO Emea while a replacement is found.
