Biography

A founding partner at Capital Generation Partners, Ian Barnard leads the firm’s direct investment advisory business, heads its investment committee and is a member of its client portfolio review, asset allocation and risk committees.

He began his career at Smith Barney Corporate Finance, advising on structured finance and mergers and acquisitions. He also spent time in the British Army and the Diplomatic Service, where he served in the UK and abroad.

0.9% – Annual average disclosed fee for actively managed equity funds

0.15% – Average annual fee for passives

36% – Average profit margin for asset managers
