M&G Investments has appointed Stefano Amato as a senior fund manager within its multi-asset team.

Based in London, Amato will co-manage the €1.1bn (£1bn) M&G (Lux) Income Allocation Fund alongside Steven Andrew. As part of his role, Amato will also work with the multi-asset team to implement investment ideas across multiple mandates.

He joins from Santander Asset Management, where he had been head of multi-asset solutions since 2018, having joined the firm as a senior portfolio manager the year before. In all, Amato brings 15 years of industry experience to M&G, having also held roles at JP Morgan and Societe Generale.

Andrew said: “We are delighted to welcome Stefano to the team. Stefano brings with him a wealth of experience and investment insight which will contribute to the whole team’s analysis and investment decision-making. His approach, like the multi-asset team’s, combines rigorous analysis of asset pricing and economic data with a deep understanding of the impact that investors’ emotions have on their investment decisions.”

Fabiana Fedeli (pictured), CIO of equities and multi asset, added: “Our multi-asset team has a unique investment philosophy that has stood the test of time and successfully navigated ever more volatile markets. The addition of Stefano to the team underlines our continued commitment to delivering a rigorous and consistent investment process that meets our clients’ evolving requirements.”
