Merwanji, who joined the firm on Monday, has been appointed to manage and grow GAM’s multi-asset offering for high net worth individuals, family offices and charities.

He is based in London and will report to Kier Boley and Andrew Jenkins, co-heads of GAM’s managed portfolio solutions team.

Prior to joining GAM, Merwanji spent 11 years at UBS Wealth Management as head of portfolio advisory and capital markets.

He has also worked at Royal London Asset Management as a US equity fund manager and Schroders Investment Management as a portfolio manager.

In September last year, GAM integrated its private clients and charities team, the alternative investment solutions and multi-asset solutions business into its wider GAM Investment Solutions group.

Larry Hatheway, head of GAM Investment Solutions, said: “We are delighted to welcome Perhad to the team. He brings 23 years of experience of fund management and client servicing and he will add to our considerable expertise across investment strategies, asset classes and portfolio construction.

“His appointment reinforces our commitment to the private client and charities business and will help fulfil our core strategy in GIS of delivering bespoke multi-asset investment solutions for our clients.”
