Martin Currie has added a portfolio manager to its global long-term unconstrained equity team.
Yulia Hofstede (pictured) has joined the Legg Mason affiliate from Blackrock where she was a global equity analyst.
She will cover the technology, media and telecoms sector based in the firm’s London office, reporting to head of global long-term unconstrained equities Zehrid Osmani, who also joined from Blackrock in June 2018.
Hofstede has also held equity research roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse. She started her career with Rothschild & Co.
Osmani described Hofstede as a “great fit” for the team and its style of high conviction long-term unconstrained investing.
He added: “I have personally worked with Yulia before and know she will be able to make a strong positive contribution to both the company and its funds.”
Martin Currie chief executive Julian Ide said: “We have built Martin Currie as a future-focused global asset manager and we are pleased Yulia is joining us on the journey.”
Last month, Legg Mason and its affiliates were bought by Franklin Templeton, creating a combined company with $1.5trn assets under management globally.
