Manulife hires two

Manulife Asset Management has hired Kathryn Langridge and Philip Ehrmann to run its new global emerging markets equity portfolio management team.

Based in London, Langridge and Ehrmann will manage a global emerging markets equity strategy for institutional clients and certain wealth management businesses of Manulife and John Hancock. They will also support other global equity strategies investing in emerging market equity.

The appointments of Langridge and Ehrmann are effective December 31, 2014 and January 8, 2015, respectively, pneidng FSA approval. Langridge will be senior managing director, senior portfolio manager, and head of global emerging markets equity. 
 
Ehrmann will be senior managing director and senior portfolio manager, supporting Langridge.
 
The team will report to Conkey.
 
The departure of Langridge and Ehrmann from Jupiter Asset Management in London was confirmed in November, as reported earlier by Portfolio Adviser.
 
Langridge had been running the Jupiter Global Emerging Markets Fund since she joined the firm in 2010.
 
Ehrmann, who joined Jupiter in 2006, was the firm's joint head of Asian equities who had been managing the Jupiter China Fund and the China Select SICAV. 
 
Canada-based Manulife has principal operations in Asia, Canada and the US. Funds under management by Manulife and its subsidiaries were approximately C$663bn ($591 billion) as of September 30, 2014.
