Man Group has named Lee Matthews (pictured) as managing director, head of retail sales for the UK following the retirement of Richard Phillips after 27 years with the firm.

Phillips worked at Société Générale Asset Management before its acquisition by GLG, which was then acquired by Man Group in 2010.

Matthews joins the firm from AllianceBernstein, where he spent seven years as head of retail for the UK and Ireland.

He has previously held roles at Aberdeen Standard Investments, Liontrust, Scottish Widows and JP Morgan.

Steven Desmyter, president at Man Group, said: “Richard has enjoyed a long and distinguished career at the firm and played a significant role in its growth in the UK as we have enhanced our capabilities over time.

“We thank him for his expertise, humour and commitment, and wish him all the best for his retirement. Lee is a fantastic hire for us as we seek to continue our expansion in the UK retail market.”
