Geneva-based Lombard Odier Investment Managers (LOIM) has made nine of its Luxembourg Sicav mutual fund range available to UK investors with sterling hedged share classes.

These will supplement a further existing 37 funds already available in the UK, all of which have RDR share classes denominated in euros and dollars.

Two of the best-known funds already in the UK are the Emerging Consumer and Golden Age funds.

The former looks at stocks exposed to consumers in emerging markets with the stocks themselves based either in a developed or developing market.

Meanwhile, the Golden Age Fund invests in companies around the world that benefit from an ageing population and the increasing demand for cruises, care homes, hearing aids and so on, explained a spokesperson for LOIM.

Additionally, the Commodity Risk Parity fund allocates to 21 commodity classes according to a risk which avoids over-allocating to major commodities such as oil. The fund is based by one third each in energy, agriculture and metals.

The company’s London office is now the group’s biggest outside Switzerland. At the end of June 2013, LOIM managed £28.4bn on behalf of its clients. It offers a range of funds across absolute return, high-conviction and smart beta strategies in addition to single-manager hedge funds.

“The launch of sterling share classes is in response to the strong demand that we have seen across the entire LOIM product franchise and gives our UK-based investors access to our strategies that aim to mitigate currency fluctuations,” Dominick Peasley, head of third-party UK distribution at LOIM, said.
