Lombard Odier Investment Managers (LOIM) has appointed Jan Straatman into a newly-created chief investment officer position.

Straatman will start on 1 March and joins from ING Investment Management where he has been global CIO for the last two years.

He will be based in London and report to Hubert Keller, who is a managing partner of Lombard Odier and co-responsible for LOIM alongside Thierry Lombard.

In his role at ING, Straatman oversaw 800 investment professionals and a total of €330bn in client assets.

Straatman has held several other CIO positions in the industry, in a career that has so far spanned 28 years.

Keller, said: "Our pioneering approach of bringing the best of alternative and traditional investment management together has led to a thriving range of strategies and funds across equities, fixed income and asset allocation.

"Jan’s investment management experience will help us to generate significant scale while concentrating on the needs of sophisticated private and third-party clients as well as the most demanding of institutional investors."
