He joins following a 28 year spell at Blackrock.
Marks will join the company at the end of June, reporting to CEO Mark Zinkula. He will be responsible for strategic change management, investment operations, IT and the data management office.
The vacancy was created by the exit of Simon Thompson who left the firm at the beginning of February this year to take a sabbatical from the industry.
LGIM said Marks has a track record of “building several successful businesses” during his time at BlackRock.
Zinkula said: “Michael brings extensive commercial and operational experience in building and running innovative businesses. His client focus, high energy and entrepreneurial drive will make him an excellent addition to LGIM.”
“I am delighted to join LGIM at such an exciting time for the company and the asset-management industry in general. I look forward to working with people across the business to help clients achieve their objectives,” added Marks.
