LGIM nabs from Hermes for product strategy role

Legal & General Investment Management has nabbed Claire Aley from Hermes Investment Management to oversee its global product strategy.

Aley (pictured) becomes head of product and investments business management and will report to chief of staff Rhodri Mason, who she replaces.

Mason said Aley had a wealth of experience leading product strategy teams in asset management. At Hermes, she was head of product strategy and development. She was previously a partner and head of client services at Highclere International Investors and has held senior product development, client service and corporate business management roles at Australian asset managers Next Financial and Mason Stevens.

Mason added: “Our clients’ needs are continuing to evolve and change against a backdrop of challenging market conditions and ensuring we are creating products that meet their needs is paramount.”

He said the appointment is part of LGIM’s commitment to product innovation.

Hermes confirmed Stuart Ballard, who joined the firm in January 2018, has been appointed head of product, he joined the business in January 2018 following five years at Blackrock as a director of product development and has also held roles with Aviva Investors and Citibank.
