Legal and General Investment Management (LGIM) has hired James Giblin as a fund manager in its asset allocation team.

Giblin (pictured), who joins after a three-and-a-half year spell at LGT Wealth Management, will be responsible for managing a range of retail multi-asset funds, as well as several client portfolios in its model portfolio service (MPS).

LGIM’s 40-strong asset allocation team is lead by Emiel van den Heiligenberg and oversees £65bn in multi-asset funds.

Giblin also becomes a member of the manager research group, with a focus on alternative investments.

Before his stint as a portfolio manager at LGT, Giblin was a graduate wealth manager at Cantab Asset Management, where he worked on a private client team covering both high-net-worth individuals and charities.

Regarding his appointment, James Crossley, head of UK wholesale at LGIM, said: “We have seen an increasing client demand for competitively priced and flexible model portfolio solutions, so we are delighted that James has decided to join LGIM. His hire will help strengthen our offering to advisers across the UK as he brings significant model portfolio experience to this role.”

Giblin said: “I’m excited to be joining LGIM’s asset allocation team and can’t wait to get started. In today’s market environment, we believe there is a real opportunity to provide bespoke and accessible multi-asset solutions that can cater for a broad range of risk profiles, price points and investment styles.”
