Legal & General Investment Management has nabbed Annacarla Dellepiane from State Street Global Advisors for a newly-created role in its ETF team.

As head of ETF capital markets, Dellepiane (pictured) said she looked forward to helping build out the ETF business following completion of LGIM’s acquisition of Canvas from ETF Securities in March. She will work alongside Howie Li, head of ETFs, the most senior person in the team who joined from Canvas with the acquisition.

She will report to Simon Hynes, head of retail distribution for Europe, Middle East and Africa (Emea), who said in the new role Dellepiane will help clients to trade LGIM products efficiently. She will partner with market makers, broker-dealers, trading venues and data providers and internally she will work with LGIM’s ETF portfolio management and distribution teams.

LGIM currently offers 29 ETFs for professional and institutional investors in the UK and Europe.

“Investor demand for ETFs is showing no sign of abating, and with this demand trading volumes are set to increase,” Hynes said. In its last trading update in August, LGIM said flows into Canvas had been strong since acquisition when assets totalled £2.4bn.

At State Street Global Advisors Dellepiane was a lead relationship manager in the SPDR Capital Markets team.

Prior to joining in 2016, she worked in iShares Emea capital markets division.

In August, LGIM poached James Crossley from Jupiter for another newly-created senior role as part of its retail push in the UK and Europe.
