Emerging Markets Government Bond (US$) Index Fund, scheduled for launch on 11 December, will invest in dollar-denominated sovereign debt. It will carry an annual management charge of 0.30%.

The fund will be launched with a £1m minimum investment limit, although this will be waived on the major fund platforms.
To be run by L&G Investment’s Index Funds team, the official named manager on the fund will be Lee Collins.

Simon Ellis, managing director, Legal & General Investments, said: “Emerging market government bond funds represent a significant opportunity for investor portfolios, with yields that typically outstrip those of developed market government bond funds. They also act as a diversifier in portfolios with concentrated holdings of conventional gilts or corporate bonds.”

The vehicle will go up against recent active launches in the EMD sector from the likes of Standard Life, Schroders and First State.
