In its first major announcement since the rebrand in September, Kames said the move to build up its property offering was consistent with its strategy of "building scale" in its third-party specialisms of property fund management, fixed income, UK equity and multi-asset investing.

Mark Bunney, Matt Day and Tony Yu will join Phil Clark’s existing property fund management team, which runs the Kames Active Value Fund and the Kames Target Healthcare Fund (specialising in nursing care facilities).

The team will work together to develop the range of indirect property investment options.

Bunney, Day and Yu’s ING REIM UK team is responsible for more than £2bn in assets, including the Osiris Property Fund, which is one of the biggest real estate fund of funds in the UK.

The Osiris Property Fund has beaten the sector benchmark over one year, six months and three months and in the year-to-date has posted returns of 4.53%, compared to sector losses of 0.45%.

Head of property investment for Kames, Phil Clark, said: "Capturing such a well-respected team, who are among the leaders in the property fund of funds market is an outstanding addition to our business and I am looking forward to working with Mark and the team as we look to enhance our indirect property proposition."
