The Kames Absolute Return Bond Fund – also the firm’s first absolute return fixed income proposition – will be jointly run by Colin Finlayson and Snowden, targeting positive total returns over a rolling three to five-year period regardless of market conditions.
It will invest in global debt in any currency, ranging from AAA-rated government bonds through to high yield and emerging market bonds. Its remit also includes fixed and floating rate fixed income securities and the two managers will also be able to use derivatives to run a long/short strategy.
The Dublin-domiciled fund will initially be available in the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands and will in time be available across Europe subject to regulatory approvals.
Snowden returned to Kames Capital having previously worked for Aegon Asset Management and currently runs the UK-domiciled Kames Investment Grade Bond fund with Euan McNeil and the Dublin-registered Kames Investment Grade Global Bond funds.
Finlayson has been with Kames Capital since 2000 and runs a number of insured funds within the group.
