Jupiter has reshuffled its six-strong Merlin multi-manager team with a series of new roles and promotions.
David Lewis, who has been with the team for 10 years, has been promoted to co-head of the strategy, working alongside team head John Chatfeild-Roberts (pictured). Together they will oversee portfolio management investment decisions.
Algy Smith-Maxwell is taking a step back from day-to-day fund management to lead the research team as research director of independent funds. Smith-Maxwell is a founding member of the Merlin team having joined from Lazard Asset Management in 2001.
In addition, Amanda Sillars has become ESG director of independent funds while maintaining her fund management duties. She will lead ESG research and engagement and work with Jupiter’s governance and sustainability team.
George Fox, who joined the team in 2018 as a graduate trainee, has been promoted to assistant fund manager, while Alastair Irvine will continue as investment director.
Chatfeild-Roberts said: “I’d like to offer my congratulations to David, Amanda and George on their new roles, each of which will add an exciting new dimension to the strategy. I have worked with David for many years now and have long valued his commitment and incisive analysis. I very much look forward to working with him to lead this next stage of the team’s growth.
“I am also delighted that Algy will continue to be a key part of the Merlin team and we will all benefit from his experience and expertise as he develops his new role.”
Jupiter chief investment officer Stephen Pearson said: “We are pleased to be in a position to make these changes, refreshing the team structure and promoting internal talent, while retaining the unique character that has defined the team over the years.”
