Jupiter has nabbed Mark Thomas from River & Mercantile to become head of UK sales in the latest shake up to its distribution team.
Thomas joins in October while River & Mercantile confirms his replacement will be announced in due course. He was a founding member of the team helping get the business off the ground from launch in 2006.
Chelsea Financial Services managing director Darius McDermott described Thomas as a “good people person”. For Thomas, Jupiter represents a bigger role, while for Jupiter it takes on a sales person who is well known in the UK marketplace, McDermott said.
Following the January 2018 exit of James Crossley, who went on to Legal & General Investment Management, John Tevenan took on responsibility for Jupiter’s wealth and retail teams.
However, under the leadership of Phil Wagstaff, who joined Jupiter in May as global head of distribution, Tevenan has become focused on global institutions leaving open the vacancy in the team that Thomas has now filled.
Wagstaff said in a statement about Thomas’s appointment: “He has a deep understanding of the UK asset management landscape and is ideally positioned to build on Jupiter’s established reputation in its home market.”
River & Mercantile chief executive James Barham said Thomas had played “an instrumental role” in the development and growth of its distribution function.
