According to Jupiter, Teverson will lead the group’s team of emerging market fund managers and will be responsible for investment performance and growing assets under management.
Jupiter’s head of investments, Stephen Pearson, said as a reason for the appointment: “Developing our global emerging markets capability is strategically important to Jupiter. We already have a strong team of specialist fund managers in this space and Ross’s broad experience and skills will help us build out our strategies on a global basis.”
Before resigning to take the new position, Teverson spent 15 years at Standard Life, with a focus in Asian and emerging market equities.
Most recently, he held the position of investment director GEM equities and was responsible for the Standard Life Investments GEM Equity Unconstrained SICAV.
His position as manager of the Standard Life fund will be taken by Matthew Williams who was, until Teverson’s resignation, deputy manager of the GEM Equity Unconstrained SICAV, a position he has held since the fund’s inception.
Teverson said: "The considerable breadth and depth of emerging markets expertise already at Jupiter provides a strong foundation for further expansion.
I very much look forward to working with the team in offering clients exposure to compelling investment opportunities in emerging markets.”
Teverson will join the firm in November 2014.
