Hooks is tasked with developing the bank’s wealth and tax planning platform for clients of the London office. He will report to Jeremy Brown, head of the investment solutions group in the UK.

His appointment follows that of Mazy Moghadam, who moved to Julius Baer’s London office in September to focus on building Julius Baer’s business with UK resident, resident non-domiciled and non-resident clients.

Alan has more than fifteen years’ experience in wealth management, focusing on wealth preservation, succession planning and tax-led structures. Before joining Lloyds, he spent six years at HSBC Private Bank. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, the Association of Tax Technicians, the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Personal Finance Society.

Julius Baer split its private banking and asset management arms into two independently-listed companies in 2009. At the time it was reported that the group planned to offload the fund operations to concentrate on private banking, but this has not happened to date.
