Dent has been the trust’s lead manager since 2001 and is to retire from 30 September this year. At that point Doel, who recently took over the F&C UK Growth & Income Fund from Hilary Aldridge, will have full responsibility and accountability to its Board.

British Assets Trust invests mostly in securities traded on the London Stock Exchange and, while it is an international portfolio of equities, its current allocation has 64.5% in the UK. Alongside 12% in corporate bond, it also holds 14.8% in developed markets and another 8.7% in emerging markets.

Dent joined F&C in 1986 and until her retirement she will remain as a director and investment manager within the firm’s global equities team.
