The JP Morgan Funds US Opportunistic Long-Short Equity Fund is an addition to its UCITS compliant SICAV range.

The fund will take a total return oriented approach to seek less correlated risk-adjusted returns, and will employ ‘high conviction stock selection.’

Lower volatility compared to traditional long-only equity portfolios is an aim and the fund will seek to ‘opportunistically’ manage gross and net market exposure. It will have the ability to take short positions through the use of derivatives to manage risk and adjust to changing market conditions. Long exposure will be used to capture positive stock market performance.

“US equities investors are increasingly looking for a degree of downside protection,” said Massimo Greco, head of European funds. “This strategy seeks to generate alpha whilst employing disciplined risk management, with greater transparency and liquidity relative to traditional hedge fund vehicles.”
