Simon Elliott is to leave Winterflood Securities after two decades to join JP Morgan Asset Management’s investment trust outfit.

Elliott (pictured), who joins the firm as a managing director at the end of September, will serve as a senior relationship manager across several JPMAM managed investment trusts, including working with investment company boards on their strategic priorities.

Additionally, he will oversee JPMAM’s investment trust sales team, liaising with Simon Crinage, head of investment trusts, to identify potential growth opportunities for the business.

Elliott has cemented his reputation as one of the top investment trust experts at Winterflood where he has spent the past 20 years of his career, including 14 years as head of research.

Commenting on his appointment, Elliott said he felt “the time is right for a new challenge”.

“I am excited to be joining the investment trust team at JPMAM. I know the firm’s stable of investment trusts extremely well, seeing it change over the last two decades to help meet the evolving needs of investors.

“I believe that JPMAM benefits from an incredible depth of resources and a team of experienced investment professionals that provides a real advantage when it comes to generating long-term performance.”

JPMAM currently has £12.5bn of assets in investment trusts, with 22 vehicles listed on the London Stock Exchange and one New York-listed closed end fund.

Crinage added: “I’ve always admired Simon Elliott’s vision and contribution to the investment trust sector and am delighted he’s joining the JPMAM team. Recruiting someone of Simon’s calibre will not only ensure our investment trust offering remains leading but will also help us evolve and find further opportunities for growth.”
